Dear Delegates and Friends,
I would like to extend a warm welcome to all those involved in caring for children with Prader-Willi syndrome to the 7th IPWSO World Conference. The PWSA-Taiwan is delighted to be hosting this triennial scientific workshop and general conference from 20 to 23 May, 2010 in Banciao, Taipei County,Taiwan.
The theme of this meeting is “East Meets West, A New World for Prader-Willi Syndrome” while emphasizing that this is the first IPWSO world conference to be held in Asia. We hope that more Asian professionals and patients/families can now join our IPWSO world. Through the cooperation with Taiwan Foundation for Rare Disorders, we hope to create a better world for all rare disease patients and families, including PWS.
The 7th IPWSO World Conference builds on the strength of previous conferences including outstanding scientific research and clinical medicine, developing skills for patient care and the continuing support and awareness in society. All attendees will have a unique opportunity to meet with specialists and families from different countries. We will do our best to provide translation services so that everyone will benefit from the conference.
Taiwan is a beautiful island and is famous for hospitality of its people and delicious food. We hope that you can enjoy the meeting as well as all your stay in Taiwan in 2010.

To Whom it May Concern
From 21-23 May, 2010, the Taiwan PWS Association, the International Prader-Willi Syndrome Organisation and the Taiwan Rare Disease Foundation will be co-hosting the 7th International PWS Conference in Taipei. The venue will be the Taipei County Hall. The theme, East Meets West: A New World for PWS, will allow us to expand theboundary of our knowledge of science and medical treatments; tools and skills for environmental and behavioural intervention; and the range of professional supports and services that arerequired for successful care and management of the person with PWS.
Our speakers will be international experts and specialists who have been selected to provide a worldview of the many aspects of genetics, endocrinology, behavioural phenomenology, and management of PWS. This conference presents an excellent opportunity for scientists, clinicians, professionals, caregivers and parents to learn from each other and to develop working relationships and partnerships that span continents. As in the past, the program will follow the usual overlapping format of Scientists’ Day, Parent/Professional Day, Young People’s Program.
IPWSO is proud of its history of international conferences and particularly of its unique mix of medical professionals and parents. Our format also includes an opportunity of meeting and mingling with young children and adults with the syndrome, which helps us all to focus on their special needs. IPWSO has a large membership of over 80 countries and our conferences provide the perfect opportunity for meeting, sharing, and networking with each other. It is important to us that we keep this tradition going so that we can build on the knowledge and information each country brings with it, and we strongly encourage countries to send their parent and professional delegates to our international conferences.
Once more we are looking forward to a rewarding and exciting international conference, and the unique dynamics that “East meets West” is going to bring.
We look forward to seeing you there!
With our very best wishes to you and your country,
On behalf of the hosts, IPWSO and Taiwan Rare Disease Foundation

Shuan-Pei Lin (President, IPWSO)
